Lucky Bastard Released

September 28th, 2006

This week we released a new Advanced Class for the d20 Modern game; the “Lucky Bastard”

“Some people are just lucky. Now you can play one in your game.”

Some people are just lucky. There’s no denying that there are those individuals who, for whatever reason, seem to lead a charmed life. Whether they were born under a good omen, are blessed by god, or are just at the far end of the probability curve, some folks just deserve the nickname “Lucky Bastard.” Jealousy and envy are common reactions to people so seemingly blessed by fortune, as are some amount of confusion and disbelief.

A few people manage to refine their luck into an actual method of survival, counting on chance and karma to save the day when skill and strength fail. The one in a hundred shot is no stranger to the Lucky Bastard, and many become daring risk-takers because of their luck. Others are quiet in their good fortune, unwilling to “press their luck” more than they have to. After all, if luck is a commodity that some people just have more of than others, then it’s possible for your luck to run out.

A new Advanced Class for any D20 Modern setting.

RELEASED: Dept. 7 Advanced Class Update: The Modern Swordsman

September 25th, 2006

We have a new Dept. 7 Advanced Class Update: The Modern Swordsman

From the European arts of fencing to the Asian discipline of kenjutsu, the use of swords in combat has been codified and romanticized for centuries in nearly every culture in the world. Even in the modern day, when guns have supplanted melee weapons almost everywhere, the sword is viewed as a symbol of what a weapon should be. The first object designed solely to kill other human beings, and a signifier of honor across cultural lines, the sword represents deadly intent better than perhaps any other weapon in history. The Swordmaster has dedicated himself to reviving the lost art of the blade. At close range a Swordmaster is more than a match for any combatant, a veritable killing machine. One on one, the Swordmaster’s power is even more undeniable.

RELEASED: Urban Sniper Advanced Class for d20 Modern

September 19th, 2006

The contract hit the street fourteen hours ago. Word reached the target ten minutes ago. He dashes from the rear entrance of the building into the rain spattered alley and the safety of the waiting car. Five steps from the rusty iron door to the armored limousine waiting to whisk him away. On step four the shot rings out.

Urban Snipers are skilled sharpshooters with a penchant for heavy sidearm’s and carbines, rather than the traditional rifles of their military counterparts. A pistol or carbine can be better concealed, more quickly hidden, and more easily suppressed for sound and muzzle flash.

Released: Dept. 7 Adv. Class Update: Fifth Horseman

September 13th, 2006

Virtually any person in the modern world knows about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Famine, pestilence, war, and death; their story has become synonymous with destruction and doom. The iconic image of four riders bringing ruin to all those in their path has found striking cultural resonance with many groups, but no more so than among biker gangs. Seeing their motorcycles as “steel horses” and themselves as apocalyptic figures, harbingers of the imminent collapse of Western society, they have come to identify themselves with the unspoken “Fifth Horseman”.

Bikers find the ideal of the so-called “Fifth Horseman” appealing, in that it represents a rejection of normal morals and values in favor of a free and unchained lifestyle. They view their bikes as the ultimate symbol of freedom, allowing them to be in one city today, and hundreds of miles away the next, feeling the open air on their faces all the while. Some bikers become so attached to their rigs that man and machine start to blend at the edges. This new Advanced Class for the D20 Modern game allows you to mount up, and raise hell on two wheels. Second Product Posted to EWGS & RPGNow/Edge

September 13th, 2006

Our second product has been posted to the ENworld Game Store as well as the Edge/RPGNow site.

Singed, bloodied, and battered, the adventurers stare past the body of the fallen dragon, eager to begin ransacking its horde of treasure. Already, their eyes gleam, and their minds dance with the possibilities: piles of coins, heady thoughts of eldritch weapons, and the promise of a rune-encrusted tome. Unnoticed among these riches is a battered, once gleaming key, dangling by a leather thong from the hilt of a sword.

The key stands out because it is so common an item amongst such uncommon wealth. It was probably the property of some adventure with less luck than the now-victorious party, and opens nothing more interesting than an old strongbox; certainly nothing of merit when compared to the wealth sitting before them. So it will simply hang there, or perhaps be tossed into a pouch, with no one ever realizing that this innocuous key is the vessel for considerable magical power.

It is the very plainness and strong symbolic properties of keys that mark them as excellent choices for enchantments involving locks, passage and hidden entries; as well as less tangible forms of opening and opportunity. This volume presents a selection of ten magical keys to help unlock new worlds of adventures, as well as rules for the duplication of normal keys.

First Product Posted on ENWorld Game Store

September 5th, 2006

Our first product is up at the ENWorld Game Store. Still learning the tricks to get the upload to go off without a hitch. (Hint, reduce your cover art file size so its not over thirty megs!) RPGNow has the product also, through their Edge small press site. Since I am a new publisher and this is our first product we are starting out there instead of the regular RPGNow site.  So, here you go:

More Mighty Than Steel Cover
At some point in his career, every wizard finds himself needing to write magical spells. Whether creating scrolls, transcribing an ancient spellbook, or simply adding spells to his own spellbook; the use of inks and quills is time consuming and expensive. It is not surprising, then, that many wizards have sought to use magic to reduce the tediousness of the task. This collection includes nine magical items for use in your game; from Sinned’s Tattoo ink to Ink of Summoning and the Quill of the Cipher. Truly the Quill is more mighty than Steel!
