Quick update, more to follow shortly. Sorry for the lack of posts, was out sick (again) yesterday. But I did manage to finish editing the latest Publisher Audio commentary as well as put together and post the Flash Flip-Book demo for our next release. I plan on posting that later today.
Wife is still out of town, and she has her cell phone off so I haven’t been able to reach her in a couple of days. But I didn’t hear about any plane crashes so I assume she is just having a swell time with her family so she’s too busy to call me. [Not that I’m bitter or sad about that or anything!]
Spoke to Louis Porter Jr. last night about a few things, and he’s running a St. Patricks Day sale on Saturday which I think is a good idea. I plan to also run a St. Patties day sale on Saturday. I’ll announce that later today on the forums as well.
The weather is turning nice here in Northern VA [D.C. Suburbs] and I am itching to take possession of my new motorcycle! Hope to have it inspected and road-ready in April. Really looking forward to spring and summer! I also found a place a few miles from work that does fencing (swords, not stolen goods) on days that fit my schedule. I may swing by there after work and check them out. I want to lose a few extra pounds and simple “exercise” isn’t as much fun as actually doing something fun. So I am gonna start fencing on a more regular basis. This place does it on several weeknights as well as Saturdays and is half the cost of this place.
RPGNow was down for part of the weekend due to l33t h@x0rs. It’s back up and running now, which is good.
I got two new art projects back from Anthony this weekend, so once I finish the layout they will be good to go. I already recorded the audio commentary for the Fantasy occupations & Signs PDF, it just needs a bit of editing. Look for that one in a day or two.
My wife is flying out of town (out West to see her family) Tuesday afternoon and will not be back until Monday; so I get to be a batchelor for the week and rent all the action/war movies I want, play video games and throw wild parties! (Well, who am I kidding…everything but the wild party.) But it will give me free time to get some more projects ready for publication.

I just finished recording the Publisher Audio Commentary for our Dept. 7 Technology Update: Liquid Armor PDF. Click on the player below to listen.
Stayed home sick from work yesterday. Rather than stay in bed I actually got quite a bit of work done; I laid out and finished two complete PDF projects. (Fantasy Occupations & Signs; taking the occupation rules from Modern and creating equivalent fantasy counter-parts. As well as our next Dept. 7 Tech Update: Liquid armor.) All I need to do for them is record the publisher audio commentaries. I also started laying out our Adventurer Essentials: Rope PDF.
Anthony sent me some sketches for two of our next Dept. 7 Advanced Class Updates that look great. (The Cold Bringer; which is Jason Bourn and Iceman blended together for our hero-themed D7ACU. As well as the Grendle Spawn, inspired by one of the Hellraiser movies!)
I also got an order in from Amazon, with a couple of books I ordered. I met my wife for lunch and stopped by the used book store (a really big one that always has lots of good stuff) and picked up the Once Upon a Time in Mexico DVD. I’m a big Robert Rodriguez fan, and loved his book Rebel Without a Crew.
Doing some more Behind-The-Scenes house cleaning today. I upgraded the Wordpress version the website runs on and the plugin that runs our web-store. Started tweaking the look and layout of the store also. That will take a while to get right, so be patient. The store currently works, but it needs to be better organized and dispayed.
I got another piece of art back from Anthony for a project that I have had for a while, so there are a few on hand that need final layout before I can release them. But that’s a good thing as I would rather have several done and ready to be released rather than nothing while I wait on a writer to turn something in or an artist to finish an illustration.
Had to go to the post office at lunch to re-new my PO Box, and when I checked the mail the new grips for my Charter Arms snub-nose revolver were in! The current grips are wood and small, making it a beast to shoot. I got new Pachmayr rubber grips that are much bigger than the old ones so it will be sooo much more comfortable. I’ll be installing those tonight when I get home.
I just found out someone broke into my brother’s house and stole his XBox 360, their Wii, a couple of wallets, digital camera and some prescription pills. That really sucks! I hope they have some insurance to cover the replacement cost. And I hope the punk(s) that stole the itlems in question [DELETED FOR VIOLENT CONTENT] until it falls off!
I did some more “house cleaning” by adding Flash Flip-Book demos into the product descriptions of most of our products. I still have a few more to do. So far they are on RPGNow, and I want to see if they will transfer over to DriveThru “auto-magically” or if I will have to adjust them over there manually. I still need to update Your Games Now, but once they are working on RPGNow its a simple cut-and-paste. This month I want to go light on my new releases to catch up with my artist and writers, build a cushon of products to have “on deck” ready for release, record publisher Audio Commentaries for the products that don’t have them yet, and post our stock-art collections for sale. That’s not to say we will not have several releases this month; we definatley have some cool stuff hitting the street in March.
The D&D game was a success. The players got to engage in some very extensive combat and the Lord of Blades survived the encounter. (Thanks to Pommel’s bite attack laced with sleep poisen requiring a DC 17 save that put one of the players out in round one.) That kept the PC’s a bit off balance as they then couldn’t simply use a Dimension Door to flee when things got too rough. That player was saved (thanks to some judicious cheating on the part of our Psycic Warrior using the spring attack feat and declaring he was immune from Attacks of Opprotunity. I checked and he is only immune from an AoO by the target of his attack, not others threatening the space.) and re-vived and went toe-to-toe with a Warforged Juggernaught and won. He can really deal out some damage! But he was constantly being hammered by Magic Missiles sine he was the only valid target for most of the encounter. The flying mage had a spell that protected him from magic missiles and normal arrows, the thief was invisible most of the time, the Psycic Warrior had some Amorphous Haze that gave a 50% miss chance to most attacks so the poor fighter-tank bore the brunt of most of the retalitory fire.
In the end they cleaned up a lot of the regular Warforged fighters and mages, took out one of the Warforged Juggernaughts and reduced Pommel to a handfull of hit points. The second Juggernaught, the Lord of Blades and several of the troops remained un-hurt before they decided to flee the field of battle.
Next Saturday I am playing in a local D&D game I just started in with some guys I go to church with. Its really a different experience being only a 3rd level player using just the core rules (no action points etc.) from GM-ing seventh level uber-gamers. My cheating Psychic Warrior may join us as well. Should be fun.
The GM’s day sale went well for us. So the month is off to a good start. We played a little bit of Crackdown this weekend also. That game looks really fun. I admit I only bought it for the Halo 3 Beta invite, but watching the carnage you can dish out in that game was awesome. Flaming bodies hurled through the air after you fire the rocket launcher never gets old!
The Accidental Survivor Podcast is up, and they give us a nice mention near the beginning of the program! They butcher the Italian pronunciation worse than I did on the Publisher audio Commentary, but they say nice things about Anthony’s art and the Flash Flip-Book Demo and Audio Commentary. Thanks ASP!
I just checked our sales ranking and last month we were #49 on RPGNow; so we broke the top 50! Sales were higher than last month by a bit, and this month is off to a really good start. (Which I attribute to the GM’s day sale going on.) I got some art back from anthony for one of our Adventurer Essentials offerings: Rope. I’ll begin the layout this weekend I guess.
Saturday I am running our Eberron Campaign which should be fun. I ordered in a few figures off eBay specifically for this session; including a Warforged Titan and the Lord of Blades. This should be fun. (I don’t think the LOB will survive the encounter.)
This month I’ll be releasing several Sketchbooks of Stock Art, rather than the individual pages I had up before. With the Flash Flip-Book I think it will be easier to do.
Wyvern magazine, a PDF ezine, came out yesterday with a review of our first Adventure Block. To sum up they were not terribly impressed. Ouch! Well, it is only our first release in the line and thats just what I am doing; building a line of products. They can’t all be 17 or 20 pages long and brimming with artwork like our City Watch and Mob Family Blocks. With luck they will check out some of the other releases and revise their overall view of the line, if not their take on that specific PDF. (They liked the art though!)
***UPDATE***
I am forced to be at work late because a couple of folks don’t know when it’s time to knock off on Friday so I can get home. So in the mean time I whipped up the cover for our Adventurer Essentials: Rope PDF. I still have to do some editing on the actual manuscript, but at least the cover is done! Now I can go home to the family and prepare for the untimely deaths of the PC’s D&D adventure tomorow.
I just finishd recording the Publisher Audio Commentary for our newest Adventure Block detailing the City Watch.
