Saw the Golden Compass on Saturday with my family. (My father-in-law took us to see it.) I guess he hadn’t heard anything about the “controversy” about the movie. Frankly, I never read the books its based on, and don’t know much about them. I have heard they are somewhat anti-religious in nature, so people assume the movie is the same. I didn’t see any of that in this movie. Frankly, I really enjoyed it. It is apparently part of a trilogy, so the ending sets you up for more. I don’t think it was a good as Narnia, but it was darn close. Loved the Ice Bears; those guys can fight! And the hot witches flying around with bows was pretty awesome too.
Worked on Black Tokyo into the wee hours of the night yesterday. It is really coming along well! I’ll be doing more tonight, hopefully I can finish it tonight, sans cover as I want to have a new one done by Anthony. Thus far we are weighing in at over 150 pages!
The Luchadore just dropped off the front page, so I’ll plan on getting another release up later today as well. I have three D7ACU’s on deck, along with Adventurer Essentials: Gold Piece just about ready.

This week has flown by thus far! I’m glad it’s almost Friday. And Payday. Thus I’ll be sending payments out to a couple of artists and writers first thing! [Read: Anthony and Chris!]
Still slogging away at a couple of larger projects. I hope to finish the first one up this weekend. Then I can begin laying out the second one so it’s ready for the artwork once that’s done. I also have several smaller PDF’s to release as well. Two D7ACU’s and AE: Gold Piece are on deck. I will get one of the smaller ones out later tonight after I make the Flash Flip Book for it.
Work kind of sucks this week. Nothing major just a bunch of little things piling up. I wish I could pull a Skarka and do this full time. (Complete with an AP article and everything!) Well, some day.
I am making a big push in our second year to build my catalog up by expanding the Adventurer Essentials line as well as several campaign settings and larger PDF’s.
Looking forward to 4th edition. I like the stuff I am hearing from ENWorld about it so far. I have decided that I am going to “jump in” when 4th edition comes out. Some of the folks in my local RPG group (the church crowd I game with on the occasional Thursday night with my Daughter; a PG or PG-13 group as opposed to my blood-thirsty “Lets kill Everyone and Sort Out Who’s Who Later” regular gaming group) are not planning to “upgrade”. I plan to in a big way. 3.5 is too far along to keep up with things, but with 4th edition I can start right off the bat and get most of the releases as they come out. I need to clear off a space on my bookshelf! (And start saving my pennies.)
Well, I am almost off work. Look for a new release later tonight!

Waiting for my wife to pick me up from work, so I figured I would get in a post before I head out. Still banging away at several of my larger projects. And getting ready to start on a project I have wanted to do since before I started publishing. Essentially I want to create a near-future, super-cool campaign setting. But instead of just writing up this alternate-future setting and putting something akin to the Ebberron book, I want to let the players go from “today” into this new setting through a series of adventure/sourcebooks. Very similer to the War of the Burning Sky Campaign setting currently being published by EN Publishing. But unlike the way they are doing theirs I intend to break my releases into three “Arcs”.
Arc 1 (Tentatively called “Genesis”) will bring the players together and make them members of Department 7 at it’s inception. As agents of this new super-agency they will combat the various forces threatening “Truth, Freedom and the American Way” both from within and without using various tactics. This arc is playable by anyone who is running a D20 Modern campaign with no modification. When the Arc is finished your players will be valuable and skilled agents within Department 7. From the end of Arc 1 a GM can take the Players wherever he wants to go. I like to think of it as the old “Keep on the Borderlands” for D20 Modern, allowing you to get a group started adventuring using the Modern rules.
Arc 2 (Title Redacted) is where we will deviate from a “Generic” D20 Modern campaign and start changing the world as we know it into the world as it will be. Several events will take place in this setting that will forever change the world. (Much as the 9-11 Terrorist attacks changed our “real” world.) And the PC’s will get to take part in many of these events as they happen!
Arc 3 is where we really get to change the world. I have some really great ideas for where the campaign will go, and what the world will look like when we get there. I have spoken with a couple of my regular writers and they are fairly excited about the details I have shared with them so far.
So now I am left with the task of getting the whole project scoped out, written, illustrated and published. Talk about a FUN job!

Spent the last three days in bed. I think I’ve finally started getting better; still a bit congested but manageable. Back to work.
Watched Ninja Warrior with my daughter last night. It’s our new favorite show. Not sure why I like it so much, but for some reason I just cannot look away.
Waiting for my latest release to fall off the front page before I put up our next PDF. I have a couple more ready to go up.
